Jonathan,

Are you in Raleigh now?

Finding time to attend practice is the real secret to Kyudo. The rest is just practicing till one runs out of mistakes.

I attended practice today at Meishin (Apex NC). There were three students which is a nice class size (short kiza). Two Sho Dan and me a San Dan practicing. It was a beautiful fall day to be shooting. Dan Sensei was there and a topic of the class was yugaeri. Mine sucks.

If you want to just visit and just watch practice feel welcome. This way you can gauge how much you'd like to come back.

Rick Beal from California once told me that all it takes is two arrows a day. I didn't realize how much effort that takes.

Hope to see you sometime.

Jon, really enjoyed reading your post-Japan blog. Amazing that your expectations and the reality match so closely, especially since you made your list four years ago. We are very happy for you to have experienced Tokyo and Japan, and that you have retained, and maybe increased, your desire and curiosity to see more of the world. -- In many ways it reminds me of coming to the US almost 50 years ago and the strong desire I had to make my life here, although I still love my home country. So, I really understand your desire to live in a different culture than the one you grew up in.

We are so proud of you for all your accomplishments so far. You are an awesome grandson.

Awesome post Jon (my son!) - glad you had this opportunity - and hope you have many more. So grateful you let me come and visit, getting a glimpse into "your city" and crimping your style (hopefully - only a bit!) Several pictures were of places we went together, and perhaps a couple were taken when I was there. So, I felt some connection - certainly some 懐かしい - but certainly not to your level of connection and meaningfulness. I look forward to your future travels - and maybe sometime again - getting to share such an experience visting you in "your world". I am very proud and happy for you to have lived so well so far!

I think that definitely while everyone has nearly the same experience, we all certainly have a unique view on that experience. Especially for you and I, Nick, I can see where our experiences, and our take on them, are very different in the end.

I'm glad it had an affect on you Gian, both my post and Tokyo. I wish you would've stuck around longer and we could've hung out more. Take care man, and perhaps one day we will meet up again.
